The magical mushroom village in Oaxaca is not a place for nomads, nor is it a place for parties. Yet it's absolutely a stop thats worth day or two of your time, when you find yourself in Oaxaca.

Getting There

San Jose del Pacifico lies roughly half way between Oaxaca city and the state's famed beach towns. To get there, you'll need to take a colectivo from either Oaxaca City or Puerto Escondido.

If you are departing from Oaxaca City, be sure to take some anti-nausea pills such as dramamine. Once you begin your ascent into the mountains, the road quickly becomes twisty-turny. The experienced drivers know this route like the back of their hands (hopefully), and they will keep a brisk pace. Taking medication for motion sickness *BEFORE* you board is a must. Believe me, I thought it wouldn't be a problem, but I quickly understood why it is a necessity.

Weather

With it's place high in the mountains, the weather is cool and fresh. You might even find yourself requiring a jacket when you are enjoying the evening.
